Cheddar usable for EU companies?

From the documentation I can't tell if Cheddar is an option for European companies, so I have some questions:
* Do you support localization for your hosted pages? If so, then which languages do you support and/or can we customize the text? * Do you provide automated VAT calculation? So if a user subscribes from The Netherlands, then he needs to pay 21% of VAT, but a user from Germany only pays 19% VAT? We can provide the country of course. * Do you provide plans with included VAT prices? We want to offer a product for €10 (incl. VAT). That is €8.26 for us in The Netherlands, but €8.40 in Germany. We want to provide consistent pricing for all EU customers, but rather not create VAT-related plans. * Do you provide any local payment methods, such as iDEAL (NL), Sofort banking (Germany), ... * Do you support 3D secure payments with creditcards and for which payment providers do you support it? * Can you supply PDF invoices (vital for EU companies)?

    Hi Ramon,

Thanks for your interest in Cheddar! I've provided answers to your questions below:

Do you support localization for your hosted pages?

The hosted pages are a basic tool we provide for users with simple subscription pricing models. The hosted pages do support some customization options like custom CSS, but if you need customization beyond what CSS can offer, we suggest using Cheddar's API with your own payment pages. You find information about Cheddar's API here.

Using the API gives you more control over your customer's experience of the signup and payment flows on your website as well as access to some of Cheddar's advanced features like tracked items, external payments, customizable tax rates, and one-time invoices.

Do you provide automated VAT calculation?

While Cheddar doesn't select a tax rate for you, it does allow you to either set a default tax rate for all of your customers or pass in a unique tax rate for each customer you create via the API. For example, if most of your customers are in the Netherlands, you could set that as the default tax rate, but if a customer from another country signs up, you could send in a different rate for that individual customer with the API. There's more documentation on that here.

Once you've set a tax rate for a customer, Cheddar will automatically calculate the appropriate tax to add to each of their invoices.

Do you provide plans with included VAT prices?

Cheddar's pricing plans are not configured to dynamically adjust flat fees according to the customer's tax rate. If you wanted to charge customers in different countries a different rate, you'd need to create a plan for each flat rate.

Do you provide any local payment methods, such as iDEAL (NL), Sofort banking (Germany), ..

Local payment methods like iDeal and Sofort aren't integrated with Cheddar, but we do provide a feature called external payments that allows you to track a customer's subscription through Cheddar and pay you through an external source. To use an external payment source, simply enter the customer's payment method as external. Cheddar will still compile invoices for this customer based on their plan type, but instead of automatically attempting to transact the customer's invoice with your credit card gateway when it becomes due, Cheddar will mark it as paid, so you can run the transaction elsewhere.

Do you support 3D secure payments?

Cheddar does not have integrated support for 3D secure at this time. The initial version of the technology wasn't used by the majority of our customers and was associated with higher levels of customer attrition during the check-out process. However, we've been following the development of 3D Secure Version 2.0 and may be able to implement that in the future.

Can you supply PDF invoices (vital for EU companies)?

Cheddar has built-in customer communications you can enable to automatically send messages to your customers when they subscribe, make a payment, have a payment declined, are issued a refund, and more. The payment receipt email is sent when a customer makes a payment and contains an invoice in the body of the email. Once the customer receives the payment receipt email, they can convert it to a PDF through their email provider.

Let me know if you have any other questions, Ramon!
