How about support for Quickbooks via Quickbooks Merchant Services?

I would like to use CG, but I really would prefer not to have to use another gateway. I currently use QuickBook Online Edition with Quickbook's gateway.

Thanks!
Ron

Interesting. Just did quite a bit of web searching on the topic and didn't find a whole lot of coherent info. I broke down and gave them a call, which didn't get me much further after being transferred to 4 different departments.

Anyway, the question I was wasn't able to find an answer to was whether or not the method used by QBOE to accept credit cards is compatible with CG. Usually, the problem is that gateways often don't provide a card holder data "vault" service analogous to the authorizenet Customer Information Manager (CIM). A cardholder data vault service is required by CG so that neither you nor CG needs to store your customers' credit card information.

One thing I did find out (which likely answers the question) is that QBOE doesn't use a gateway, if I understand correctly. What I gather is that if you want to accept payments via another website (let's call it a shopping cart), you need a gateway account (like authorizenet). You can, I believe, hook that account into your existing merchant account that you use with QBOE.

We'd love to get this working for you. Maybe we need to talk specifics about how you accept credit cards via QBOE. Do you know if you truly have a "gateway" account?

    Marc,

Thanks for your incredibly prompt response. Sorry it took two days to respond. QBOE uses Innovative Merchant Solutions (IMS) (800-558-9558) to process the credit card transactions. If you give me a list of questions to ask them, I'll call them today. We are very eager to use CG, but having to get another CC processing service is undesirable. We spent some $$$ on trying to replicate what you already have inside of QBOE and their API just does not support it. Sure, we could manually create and maintain all of the recurring templates, but I am a programmer, not an accountant. If we could just re-use our existing gateway and your service, that would take some of the sting out of the whole process, and I could code something that keeps the books up-to-date.

Thanks again for all your help!

Great news. The usual sticking point is cardholder data security. CG doesn't store your customer's credit card info and neither should you. For Authorize.Net, we use their Customer Information Manager (CIM). Something analogous to that service is required by any gateway we integrate with CG. Check to see if they provide such a service. If they do, odds are good that they're compatible.

I just receive word back from Innovative Gateway. They do not provide a service that allows for merchant initiated recurring billing. From support:

Per current Card Security Rules Innovative Gateway cannot store Credit Card information for merchant use at a later time.

    Innovative Gateway Support

The "Per current Card Security Rules" phrase is likely a bogus excuse. They must be PCI-DSS compliant and so could provide such a service but it's possible that they really don't.

Do you know if it's possible in QBOE to enter a customer's credit card once and reuse it for future invoices?

I saw the same thing while reading through their "API".

We CAN store CC info in QBOE, and we CAN re-use them for future invoices, but we cannot programmatically create and maintain recurring templates. We could manually create/maintain each recurring template, but hopefully our products will be sucessful enough such that it would be unrealistic to have someone do that all day. Plus, I hate accounting.

This is the reason we are looking at your product. It looks as though we have to decide if having two gateway charges a month is going to be a big deal.

    Thanks for your help,
    Ron

So the CC is probably stored in QBOE directly and not via the innovative
    gateway... Does that sound right?

Probably, but who knows. I get the feeling that Innovative has extermely close ties to Inuit, and therefore may have a different API for them.
