Can we bill multiple Subscription Plans, each in a different currency?

We sell our subscription internationally. For recurring billing it's important that the billed amount be the same every time (to avoid confusing the customer).

We would like to bill in USD, AUD, CAD, Euros, GBP.

Can we do this?
Is there additional cost?

    Hi Clay,

Yes, with the CheddarGateway you can charge customers in multiple currencies. It of course depends on whether or not your merchant account allows you to process those currencies.

Do you already have a merchant account, or will you be needing one?

If not, where are you located?

    Thanks,
    Adam

    1. No, we have a gateway (we process cc's through Quickbooks Merchant Services.
    2. Do you support QBMS?
    3. If we're using them will Cheddar Getter be any less expensive than what's listed on your pricing page?

I'm pretty sure that QBMS does not support multiple currencies:
    http://community.intuit.com/posts/multiple-currency-3

We do not support QBMS's merchant account.

To use CheddarGetter and process multiple currencies, you would need to get a different merchant account and use our embedded gateway (CheddarGateway).

If you would like to pursue that route, just let me know what country your business is in and I can direct you to one of our partners there.

    Thanks,
    Adam

    Adam,

Are we able to select the Currency (Euros, Australian Dollars, etc.) in the
    free trial version?
If so how do we do that? I don't see that option when creating a Plan.

The currency selection is done in the gateway setup. If you do end up going with our CheddarGateway you will be able to choose which currencies to accept during the setup process.

We would be using the Cheddar Gateway

In order to have several plans with several different Currencies, like:
    US Subscription $50/m
    UK Subscription 40 GBP/m

How would we assign the currency for each?
(I.e., if we say we accept the above 2 currencies for the Ch Gateway, how do we set each subscription to different currencies?

    Adam,

According to someone else @ CG, we'd need multiple CG accounts.
    Is that true?
Please see my question in the thread below on whether we'd need to pay for
multiple CG accounts in that case.

*Standard merchant accounts in the US (like the standard Gravity Payments
account) are only capable of transacting in USD. Multi-currency is somewhat
complex and expensive. CheddarGateway is capable of it when there is a
merchant account on the back-end which is capable of other currencies.
Currently the only option that is compatible with CheddarGateway is a
    Payvision merchant account.*

*Also, CheddarGetter is only capable of transacting in one currency per
CheddarGetter product account. So, you'd need a separate account for each
currency. We have plans to change that but it's not a near-term project.*

    Hi,

I replied with a question and never got a response. I'm reposting my
    question here:

If we need to process 3 different currencies (USD, AUD, GBP, and also maybe
Euro), we'd need one CG account for each currency, correct?

Does that mean that we'd need to pay for 3 different CheddarGetter accounts
to be able to bill in 3 different currencies?

Hi guys, sorry for the delay.

You would not need separate CheddarGetter accounts for each currency. You would just need to create a new "Product" within your CheddarGetter account (on the Blowing Up plan) for each currency.

You'll also need separate merchant accounts for each currency.

    Thanks,
    Adam

I posted a question on this on your forum, but got no response: I could not
find a way to add a product, including searching the help.

How do I add a product?

    Hi Clay,

If you click the "Products" link in the left top corner of the dash you'll be able to add an additional product. Noted in the attached screenshot.

    Thanks,
    Adam

When I add an additional product from within my registered CG account, your site then asks me to pay for it.

    1. I create the product.
    2. I configure my first plan and the Gateway, etc.
    3. Your site then prompts me with [save and pay]

    QUESTIONS
    a. How do I get the 2 extra products (one bungalow-aus.chargefault.com (for australian currency) and one bungalow-uk. (for UK GBP) added without being charged/billed extra.

    b. Where do I configure the gateway (including how to select the currency)?

Hi Clay -- I see the AUD account. In this account, you have CheddarGateway selected as the billing solution. You don't currently have a multi-currency merchant account available in your gateway account as Adam stated above in comment #11. You can, however, accept AUD via PayPal standard payments. You'll need to setup a multi-currency merchant account for direct credit card acceptance in currencies other than USD. We can help with that. In the meantime, we can setup your account for PayPal AUD. How would you like to proceed?

OK, so I would need Gravity Payments to be MultiCurrency capable, correct?
(IIRC, they are not yet, but will be adding that).

Yes, for the time being, let's setup the AUD Product vi PayPal for AUD$ and also a Product for the UK to be billed in GBP.

    Please "make that happen "

The two extra Products I created (for ..(UK) and ..(AUS)) both are asking me to pay in order to finish setting them up. I assume I don't need to pay for each product (at least that was what I was told. Correct?

I assume that I need to configure PayPal through my login on the CheddarGetter Gateway, correct?
If not, where do I configure PayPal for CG?
What else do I need to do to make that happen?

Also, my understanding is that a customer could use a credit card to pay through PayPal, right?

    ALSO,

We are NOT using the PayPal PRO. Does that mean customers have to create a PayPal account in order to pay through PayPal?

IF so, How about if we just set up those (AUS, UK) Products as US $ for now using the same Gateway and Merchant Account (CG, Gravity Payments). That way we can test, and start selling etc. and then when Gravity Payments is ready we can switch to the different currency?

In that case I assume that Subscriptions which get started in US$ would just keep getting billed that way forever (unless we make a change) and then when we switch to AUS$ for the AUS Product, new Subscriptions will be billed in AUS $, correct?

Correct. We have another provider (Payvision) who can do the other currencies for you. I've attached their "pre-check" form in case you want to start that process.

    Yes.

We can do that. Has Gravity Payments given you any indication of when they will be able to support multiple currencies?

You can do that. Just set it up how you want it. The other two accounts are asking you for payment because they must be on a paid plan before you can configure live gateway credentials. Once you do that, we can switch the accounts to a special plan that wont charge the monthly fee but only the transaction fees.

In that case I assume that Subscriptions which get started in US$ would just keep getting billed that way forever (unless we make a change) and then when we switch to AUS$ for the AUS Product, new Subscriptions will be billed in AUS $, correct?

That is correct. Also, over time as existing subscribers update their billing information for whatever reason, they will begin to be charged in the new currency.

I added one Plan (UK) Ok and paid, etc.
When I tried to pay for the AUS one I got this error:
    (500) 1000: An unrecognized gateway error occured

I tried it repeatedly, logging out and logging back in and trying again. Same result.

Looks like our duplicate checker caught that. Sorry about that. It should be fine now. You can go ahead and signup for the Blowing Up plan on the UK account now.
