Looking for a solution
Hi,
I just created a dev account to take a look at your software. We are a Saas company in the Netherlands. Turnover in 2010 was EU 1,5 million (appr. $ 2 mill) and we are growing fast. We have 2200 customers and send out 2500 bills yearly (all 2010 numbers).
There are lots of subscription management software offerings, however, none of them supports direct debit. In Europe, companies hardly use creditcards and are used to direct debit or plain billing (we send the bill by e-mail, they pay).
Now your software looks great, if it would just have direct
debit and plain billing. Any way you can help us?

HI Gerben -- It's a bit difficult to support direct debit because in almost every case, the direct debit system is country-specific. We couldn't possibly support them all. Further, direct debit is error prone as it has increased process complexity. For example, in the US, it's called ACH. When and ACH is executed, depending on your service, it can take 4 days to get funded. It can also take that long to learn that the payment was declined/rejected/error. Then, a dunning process begins. Each iteration of the dunning process can take up to the same 4 days. We strive to avoid complexities like this in CG and so have chosen not to support direct debit/echeck/ach.
We would like to have more large companies like yours on our books but direct debit support isn't on our radar right now. Maybe down the road...
However, "offline" billing support is something that we anticipate developing in the foreseeable future. We'd like to add a feature that will push notify a person (for manual processing) or an automated process outside of CG to execute payment. Once payment is executed and approved, CG is notified in return to mark the account as paid. This feature could be leveraged for any external billing process.

We would be happy with a system to manage our subscriptions that would make it possible to export data every day for the billing to take place in other software. The problem is that in all the subscription management software I looked at you requiere a credit card to purchase someting. That makes it almost unusable for B-to-B usage in Europe.

An "offline" billing option is what we plan to develop. It would not require a credit card.
What about PayPal?
