When switching plans and prorating immediately, would the customer get an ADDITIONAL free X days (if we Bill after X days)?

If someone signs up for Plan A and then 2 weeks later switches to Plan B and BOTH plans have Initial Billing 7 days after signup,
will they get another 7 days free when they switch to Plan B?

    Hi Clay,

If someone signs up for Plan A and then 2 weeks later switches to Plan B and BOTH plans have Initial Billing 7 days after signup, will they get another 7 days free when they switch to Plan B?

You have the option to prorate a pricing plan change. If you prorate, they will be billed immediately (at the moment of the plan change), so they will not receive the free trial of seven days. If you choose not to prorate, then the next bill will happen (7) days after the plan change. In either case, they will not receive an additional 7 days (i.e. 14 days) if that is your question.

The alternative to this is to cancel the customer, and then reactivate them under the new plan.

    Hi Clay,

I apologize, some of the information I gave you above is incorrect. See below.

If you choose not to prorate, then the next bill will happen (7) days after the plan change.

This is not true. If you do not prorate, the next bill date will not change from the last plan. In other words. If Plan A is a monthly plan, and your customer signs up on September 1, they will be billed on October 1 regardless of when they switched plans. After that bill, they will be billed according to the plan they have switched to.

    Also:

The alternative to this is to cancel the customer, and then reactivate them under the new plan.

Also incorrect. You would need to delete the customer altogether, then re-create them under the new plan.

    I'm sorry for any confusion!
