Billing for multiple annual items per customer

We would like our customers to be able to add items to their account that will be billed annually based on when they added them.

For example a customer licenses Widget A in January and is billed the fee for the next year. They then license another copy of Widget A in March.

How can we setup CheddarGetter to automatically bill the customer annually for each of the licenses at the right time?

  1. Hi Charlie -- It looks like your plans are setup to bill monthly. Your annual license stuff sounds like something you want to do in parallel with a monthly subscription. If my assumptions are correct, then I suggest that you use a custom charge for the annual license(s). When payment is due, add a custom charge to the current invoice. It will be settled when that invoice runs. If you want to charge them immediately for the license, you can use a one-time invoice instead. Then, when a year passes, add another charge or execute another one-time invoice at that time. You could use the transaction webhook to trigger your application to examine a customer's account to see if it's time to charge for a new license.

  2. Thanks Marc, that makes sense :-)
