Do you have a release coming up? They were [pretty rapid for a while. I'd be interested to see what you have on tap.
Thanks!
Support Staff 5 Posted by Marc Guyer on 09 Jun, 2010 02:56 PM
The upgrades over the last 6 weeks or so have been mainly bug fixes and small feature improvements. We've been working on some larger projects that are all going to drop over the next several weeks. Hosted payment interface, custom one-time invoices, preloaded subscriptions, etc. We'll let you know!

Sounds great. Thanks so much for the update!

Hi Marc,
I've noticed that your API is not versioned (there is no version info in the URL). How do you plan to introduce breaking changes into the API in the future? Are you going to start including a version number at some point?
Support Staff 8 Posted by Marc Guyer on 09 Jun, 2010 06:33 PM
Emil -- The goal is to maintain backward compatibility in all future changes to the API. If a new feature must break backward compatibility, we'll introduce versioning.

Just wanted to check in to see where you guys might be with a next release. We are starting to use the app more and more and are certainly interested in seeing what you roll out.
Thanks.

Saweet! Now available: change the current invoice bill date! (This is bigger than it sounds)

13 Posted by bkeogh on 27 Aug, 2010 04:11 PM
Hi Marc, so with regard to " Transact the current invoice in real-time"... is it possible to perform a one off transaction separate from a subscription transaction?
Or would I just add the one off item to the current invoice, change the date to bill immediately, and the system will automatically create a new invoice for the subscription? In this case, the monthly billing date changes correct?
Thanks,
Beau
Support Staff 14 Posted by Marc Guyer on 28 Aug, 2010 09:01 PM
Hi Beau -- This release does not specifically include capability for one-time transactions. You can, however, do what you suggest: Add a custom charge and change the bill date to 'now' which transacts the current invoice immediately. Then, yes, the billing date for the next invoice changes to one billing period from 'now'. If you so desire, you could then change the bill date for the next invoice.

Hi Mark,
Any releases on the horizon?
Thanks,

Hi Adam -- We're always working on new improvements. We've been working on some large projects which means a longer release cycle but we're getting close... We'll let you know soon!
17 Posted by Adam on 25 Oct, 2010 02:58 PM
Thanks Marc. Any preview for what you are working on?
Support Staff 18 Posted by Marc Guyer on 25 Oct, 2010 07:12 PM
The large project is on that encompasses a few smaller ones. First, marketing metrics tracking. You will be able to tell CG when a customer first learned about your service, and where they came from (among other things). With this information, CG will be able to tell you which lead sources are producing the most revenue. Next will be coupon/discount/event codes. You will be able to use these codes to, for example, automatically provide discounts or elevated levels of service to customers who have a code. You'll be able to use this system with the marketing metrics tracking to learn which promotions or events you attend are more valuable than others, for example.

This comment was split into a new discussion: Email update payment info URL
Cool. Thanks Marc. Is there any thought also to having credit card declined emails include a URL to update payment info (if that isn't already possible)? I know i can figure out the URL manually but is there an easy way to do it dynamically and include in those templates? Thanks!

This comment was split into a new discussion: Dashboard Metrics Date Range
Hey Marc,
nice to see the app is evolving, however, seeing that you obviously
recognize the value of metrics and analytics I'm surprised that the ability
to limit the date-range for the dashboard metrics seems so low on your
roadmap. I've put a ticket in a while ago, and the request seems both very
important and trivial to implement. After all I would think that most
analytics guys report on a montly basis, not quarterly, at least not
exclusively.
So, I'm just curious if this will ever be implemented.
Thanks, and have a great day.
Daniel

Greetings Cheddar Getters!
There's been alot going on here in parallel to the big changes we have coming up with hosted pages and PayPal support. Notable changes include:
customers/list
(a 98% speed increase overcustomers/get
)Check out the change log for a more complete list of changes.

Hey y'all! Just a heads up. We're changing the
customers/delete-all
api call slightly to make it a bit more difficult to accidentally delete all customers. Pass in a unix timestamp within one hour of the request to successfully delete.https://cheddargetter.com/developers#delete-all-customers
Also, in case you didn't know, there's a super secret way to do this in the GUI as well: https://cheddargetter.com/admin/customers/delete-all

Yup, more improvements! Notable: advanced config for hosted pages.

This comment was split into a new discussion: API/Wrapper Versioning
Currently I'm in the process of getting the .NET wrapper up to speed to the most current features. While doing so I noticed that you do not version the api, you mentioned that there will be no breaking changes, and if so you would introduce versioning. Having np with you trying not to break the existing api.
The problem I have encountered is that if you want to describe what features are supported in a wrapper you have no real way of doing so, besides linking to this change log and mentioning the date. So you might not need versioning to run the wrappers, but it would be great to have the option to overview which features are available in which wrappers by referencing a "version".
I could also easily see a table that lists all features that can be filled with the support level for each wrapper.
This would make things a lot easier for new customers/devs.
