Using CG Gateway with existing merchant account
Our company currently has a merchant account for other online transactions. We would like to continue to use this account with CheddarGetter Gateway. Is this possible? The application makes it look like you have to apply for both a merchant account and a gateway.

Peter -- Do you know which "processing platform" your Merchant Service Provider has your merchant account hooked to? With that information, we can make a determination whether or not your existing merch account is compatible with the CheddarGateway.

Hi Marc,
I'm not sure what a processing platform is, actually. I went back and
checked on our applications for our other two processing services and
one of them mentions EDC and ARU. Is this what you are looking for?
Thanks,
Peter

No, that doesn't ring a bell. Some processors are: TSYS/Vital, PaymenTech, Interlink, MeS Trident, etc. If you call up your MSP, I'm sure they could tell you.

Marc, actually all we have is the bank account that links up with a couple of other online payment services we use. We typically call that our merchant account. Am I using the wrong terminology? It's my understanding that CheddarGateway will take care of accepting the payments, processing them and dumping them into our existing bank account. Is that accurate or is there another step between CheddarGateway and our bank account? Thanks.

There is a "merchant account" piece. CheddarGateway talks to a processor, the processor is attached to a merchant account which is the mechanism by which funds are deposited into your bank account.
CheddarGetter manages the recurring billing and passes the payment information to CGateway.

We use Regions Bank for our account and they use Elavon for their
processing. Would it be possible for you to talk to Elavon to
determine whether you are compatible?

Yes, Elavon is compatible.
