How would I go about setting up a x months free promotional item? We'll be capturing card info at signup but deferring charges to three months after with a coupon. Can I add the item to the subscription then remove it after the third (Nth) period? Is there a better way?

Thanks!

So, you're giving the item away for the first three months, then charging for the item each month after that?

Correct. It will be offered as a coupon.

Ok, well, you could do that in several different ways. You could use a single tracked item to charge for the item but only increment the "usage" of the item after the third cycle. You could also use a another tracked item to determine whether or not the customer has access to the item for free. You would increment this item if the customer has the coupon.

You could also use a single tracked item to perform both functions. Set the item to include 1 and if the customer has it for free, set the customer's usage for the item to 1. When they must begin paying, set the usage for the item to 2.

I suppose there's several ways to handle it. You could use two different plans. One for the initial 3 month period and then "upgrade" the customer's subscription to the paid plan after the third cycle.

Another way to look at it would be to issue a custom credit to offset the cost of the first three months of the cost of the item. This might be the cleanest way.
