Pro-Rating w/ Hosted Pages without confusing prospect
I'd like to have the following business model
1) $97 setup fee
2) $19/month billed on the 1st of each month, with the first such
payment being pro-rated
I believe this model can be executed very simply in CheddarGetter by simply giving new accounts a credit the day they sign up calculated based on the day of the month they sign up.
However, that would not be reflected in the billing-explantion on the hosted signup page -- is there a way to replace it with a static text e.g. "$97 will be billed today, and $19 will be billed on the first of every month, with the first monthly payment pro-rated."
Pro-rating signups in this way allows a business to make things like customer-retention nice and periodic so they can be managed better.
Thanks!

Hi Rick,
Yes that would work.
As for displaying it on the hosted page, we don't currently allow any additional HTML to be included on the page, but you can easily include text in the Company Info box of your hosted page settings:
http://cheddargetter.com/admin/hosted-settings/company
That text shows up above the pricing plans, so that should work.

The company-info idea would only make it more confusing for the prospect... i'd basically be saying "Ignore the highlighted yellow dates and amounts below, we're doing something different but don't have the ability to change the text below"
So I'll leave it as a feature request... specifically, I'd liek to request that you allow your customers to replace the auto-generated payment info with custom static text... and if that requires an approval process on your end to avoid fraud, then charge us -- we'll be happy to pay.

Hi again Rick -- Hosted pages are intended to be a convenient way for new businesses to easily get up an running with a simple setup. What you've envisioned is a more complex setup that CG's hosted pages were not designed to facilitate. CG itself was designed specifically to be a simple as possible to use while providing as much flexibility as possible. Complicated processes like prorating the first payment according to when the signup occurs is something that we believe unnecessarily complicates the process and so was not included in the design of the hosted pages.
That said, you can use the API to fully control your customers' experience. However, I suggest eliminating the prorating altogether. Sliding billing cycles spread the workload evenly over time and make cashflow management much easier.
