PreconditionFailed on customer deletion

I have one free plan and one non-free plan. I use 1000 items included into the free plan to provide discount for paid plan since I use immediate first bill (so I first set item usage on the free plan then move user to the paid one).

I'm trying to remove the user when he's on the free plan and the item usage is 0. I use pyCheddar (I've made some fixes and modifications though) and encounter PreconditionFailed error on customer deletion:

{'aux_code': '', 'message': "'28' is not less than or equal to '20'"} path: '/customers/delete/'
product_code: 'MyProductCode'
status: 412
url: 'https://cheddargetter.com/xml/customers/delete/code/87/productCode/...'

  • I've replaced real product code with MyProductCode here.

But I do not use numbers 28 or 20 anywhere and don't know what are they. Why this happens?

Hi Alexei -- There used to be a 20 customer limit on the free plan even if you're in simulation mode. We artificially lifted the limit to 1000 for simulated accounts. However, there appears to be a bug when deleting customers when you have more than 20. We're working on a patch to fix this problem. We should have it taken care of today.

Is this 20-customer limit back? After the May 15, 2011 launch, a lot of things stopped working in our development that seemed to be caused by the fact that we had more than 20 customers. We were able to delete a lot of customers and start fresh, but having a larger limit in simulation mode has been very helpful for testing our signup process.

Hi Randy -- The simulation mode limit was a bit of a hack. Since the upgrade, new developer accounts are on a "Developer" plan rather than commingling live free accounts with dev free accounts on the same plan. Which product code(s) is your dev account? I'll move it to the developer plan so you can avoid the hack fallout.
