Finding credit card tied to a specific invoice in the API
Good morning,
From the API, it appears that I cannot get the creditcard info tied to a specific invoice, but only to a subscription. So, if a user were to change credit cards during the course of a single subscription, there would be no way for me to know which invoice (within a given subscription) was charged on which CC.
Is there a way around this?
Thanks
-Ka Wai

Hi Ka Wai -- No, there isn't a way to do this via the CG api. What's your use case? Is this a requirement?

Hi Marc-
The use case for us is to be able to display CC info per invoice… something like "You were charged $25.00 on your VISA ending in 1234 on 7/1/2013".
Thanks-
-Ka Wai

I'm not positive on this, but I believe you could retrieve the last four cc digits from the customer's XML. The current CC on the account will be found in the node
gatewayAccount[ccLastFour]

Hey Dean-
What I'm looking for is the CC tied to an invoice rather than a subscription. Suppose a user changes their CC a few times during the course of one subscription. Currently, I can't tell which CC was charged on any specific invoice because only the current CC is available in the API.
Just interested to see if that can be added to the API at some point.

Ah, I see. That does sound like a good thing to add. Thanks for bringing this up - I'll pass it along for our dev team to discuss.
Best,
Dean

Ka Wai -- I'm afraid this is impossible for us to do at this time. It's a known feature to be added but our refactor list is massive and we have several ongoing PCI, hosting, and infrastructure projects. When this data becomes available to our customers, we'll let you know.
Best,
Dean
